Why did your doctor or nurse ask you to go for an Xray?
Your doctor or nurse has asked you to go for an Xray because they need to understand what is causing you pain and how they can best treat you.
Do I need to prepare?
You do not need to do anything for an Xray.

Please tell our staff if you are pregnant or might be.
You might be asking, what is an Xray?
An Xray is a way for your doctor to see inside your body without having to operate. It is like a picture of the inside of your body. An Xray is used to see bones and organs and is mostly used to spot fractures, infections or objects that are not meant to be there. Getting an Xray is a necessary step to find out what type of treatment you need to get better.
What happens after you get your Xray?
The Xray images are sent to one of our radiologists right after the Xray exam. The radiologist will review them and explain if there is anything wrong in a diagnostic report. This report together with your Xray images are then sent directly to your doctor or nurse who will then treat you.
Is an Xray safe?
The radiation dose you get exposed to from an Xray is extremely low. Our Xray machine has been designed to keep the radiation dose to the minimum and provide high quality images. The dose is also minimized by our well-trained radiographers. Overall, Xrays are a valuable tool that assists healthcare providers in understanding your health, and to decide on the right treatment. It is also the most frequently used form of medical imaging.
Does an Xray fix your problems?
No. The results of the Xray will indicate to your doctor or nurse if something is wrong so that you can get the treatment you need. Think of it like getting a photo inside your body that shows very clearly what needs fixing. It is for your doctor to make the right recommendations to help you.
What is the difference between a sonar and an Xray?
Sonar uses special waves to produce pictures of soft tissus (eg. uterus, breasts, ligaments, muscles). It does not use Xrays.
An Xray device uses special rays to produce pictures of the body’s internal structures (eg. bones, organs and foreign objects).
